Ruth Jane Bleam

Ruth Jane Bleam, 81, of Leavenworth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. She was born Aug. 26, 1930, the daughter of James and Hazel (Pottle) Buchanan.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Ann Bleam-Guise.

On Dec.18, 1949, she married Edwin K. Bleam in Fairmount, Kan. He survives at the home. She is also survived by her sons, Kenneth ( Cheryl) Bleam of Leavenworth and ; Howard D. (Connie) Bleam of Tonganoxie her daughter Carolyn M. (Keith) Hollingshead of Basehor; her son-in-law, Tim Guise; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and is expecting her first great-great-grandchild.

Ruth attended Fairmount Grade School and St. Mary Academy of Leavenworth in 1948. She was a member of Victory Assembly Church of Bonner Springs, Kan. She was passed Worthy Matron for the Order of Eastern Star Sincerity Chapter of KC, past member of the Fairmount Methodist Church, Fairmount Extension Unit, Methodist Women’s Society, Willing Workers, former president for league of Scottish Rite For Women, Women’s Aglow Group, Basehor and Bonner Springs Quilt Clubs and held several project leader positions for Fairmount 4-H Club.

Ruth was a devoted housewife, farmer and had many talents. Through many years she met many good friends and was a sister in Christ to all.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9. 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home after the visitation. Burial will follow at Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie. Memorials are suggested to America Cancer Society.
