Goldie R. Carpenter

Goldie R. Carpenter, 86, of Easton, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at Country Care of Easton.

She was born July 22, 1924, in Thayer, Kan., the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Bower) Barnhart. She attended school in Thayer. She married Clyde Carpenter on July 19, 1942, in Thayer. They moved to their farm in Easton, Kan., in 1956 where they raised cattle and crops.

Goldie was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; her parents; brothers, Ray, Earl and Everett; and sisters, Vera and Irma.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Janice Carpenter; two grandchildren, Amy Carpenter and husband, Chris Hildebrandt and Chris Carpenter and wife Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Dallas, Kelsey, Christopher and Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews.

Prior to her illness, Goldie was active with the Heritage Center, the Council on Aging and various senior citizen groups. She enjoyed gardening, attending senior citizen gatherings and baking pies.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Easton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Lewis and Rev. Elizabeth Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Easton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Easton United Methodist Church.
