Judith Jackson DeMaria

Judith “Judy” Jackson DeMaria, of Lansing, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, after a 15-year battle against cancer. Judy was born on Nov. 9, 1948, to Leonard Jackson and Eleanor (Michelotti) Jackson in Lansdowne, Pa.

She married Matthew “Matt” DeMaria on Dec. 28, 1968, in Lansdowne. Judy, Matt and their children traveled the world for the 26 years Matt served in the US Army. During her caring and giving life, Judy actively volunteered with military wives organizations, military and local schools, Cushing Hospital and sponsored International students to the Command & General Staff College. She was always helping someone while raising two beautiful children. Judy was also an active member of Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph Parish in Leavenworth. She was an amazing example of courage, compassion, integrity and determination for all who knew her. Judy was a much loved and very special Wife, Mother, Nana and friend.

Her parents and Uncle Joseph Michelotti preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving husband Matt; her son Michael, his wife Jenny and grandson Aidan of Woodbury, Minn.; her daughter Cara of Tampa, Fla.; her brother Joseph and his wife Joann of Oakland, Calif.; and her cousin Bruce and his wife Karen Michelotti of Rochester Hills, Mich.

Mass of Christian burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church, 711 N. 5th Street, Leavenworth, with Rev. David McEvoy O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to METAvivor – Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness, Research and Support (www.metavivor.org) in Judy’s name.
