Leonard Benjamin Della-Moretta II

Leonard Benjamin Della-Moretta II, 68, of Leavenworth, died, Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at his home. He was born June 8, 1949, in Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of Leonard B. and Nona (Walker) Della-Moretta.

On Dec. 28, 1978, Leonard married Ana Maria Valiente in Pomona, Calif. She survives at the home. He is also survived by two sons, Robert A. Della-Moretta of Seattle, Wash. and Leonard B. Della-Moretta III of London, United Kingdom; and two sisters, Mary Anne Gregga of Madison, Wis. And Ellen Hinman of Crystal Lake, Calif.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents.

He joined the United States Army in 1964 where he served as a Field Artillery Officer for 20 years. His duty assignments included Korea, Los Angelos, Fort Ord, Fort Sill, Panama and Germany. Leonard retired from the Training Management Directorate at the Combined Arms Center-Training “CAC-T” on Fort Leavenworth in 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at St. Francis de Sales Church, with Rev. William McEvoy as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
