Rita Denton

Rita Denton, 64, of Leavenworth, died, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at her home. She was born May 18, 1952, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Ralph Harold and Liselotte (Broenner) McGill Sr.

Rita graduated from Bartlesville Oklahoma College High School in 1970. She attended college at Central State University in Edmond, Okla. and Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Okla., where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.

On Sept. 15, 1979, Rita married Kelly Denton in Bartlesville, Okla. He survives at the home. She is also survived by her twin brother, Ralph H. (Janet) McGill Jr. of Wynona, Okla.; a brother, Joseph (Sheryl) McGill of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mary Sutton of Copan, Okla.; her god parents, Mike and Judy Collins; and several nieces and nephews.

Rita lived in Berlin, Germany, Padadena, Md., Augsburg, Germany and Dieburg, Germany, before moving to Leavenworth in 2000.

She was a stenographer for the United States Army Berlin Commend from 1980 to 1989.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joan Thomison.

Visitation beginning with the rosary will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph Church with Fr. David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church.
