Mildred Fink

Mildred Irene Fink, 91, of Leavenworth, went to be with Our Father, Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Jefferson County, Kan., the daughter of Herman J. and Bertha E. (Schrick) Fink.

She worked as a welder at Missouri Bridge and Ironworks in Leavenworth, Kan. building landing barges for the war effort during World War II. Mildred then worked for 32 years as a garment worker in Kansas City. She retired in the early 1980s and moved to Leavenworth.

Mildred was affectionately known as “Sis”. She enjoyed hobbies of painting and crafts. She loved being outside, tending to her flowers and watching the rabbits and squirrels. Sis took many road trips with her sister Rita to experience the sights and sounds of picturesque places.

She is survived by her brother, Herman E. (Doris) Fink. and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving cousins.

Mildred was preceded in death by three brothers, William H. Fink, Leonard B. Fink and Raphael E. Fink Sr. and her sister, Rita M. Fink.

A quote to remember “It doesn’t matter if you’re somebody in the world- It rather matters if you mean the world to somebody.” Sis will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. with Fr. Gregory Houck, O.Carm. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church.
