Mary Katherine Finneran

Mary Katherine Finneran,79, of Leavenworth, went to heaven, Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at her home in Easton, Kan. surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer. She was born July 30, 1937 in Leavenworth, Kan., the daughter of Richard and Oka (Williams) Corriston.

On July 20, 1957, she married Walter Eugene VanDruff. He preceded her in death in June 1958. Mary then met the love of her life, John Lloyd Finneran Jr., and they married on April 30, 1960. He preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia (Finneran) Pfannenstiel; a son in-law, Raymond Brune Jr.; a granddaughter, Ariel N. Porter; four brothers, Dick Corriston, Ted Corriston, George Corriston and Eddie Corriston; and a grandson in-law, Brian Conway.

Mary is survived by five children, Kathleen E. Brune of Leavenworth, Kan., John L. (Julie) Finneran of Stover, Mo., Genieva M. Rhodes of Easton, Kan., Deborah L. (John) Porter of Ozakie, Kan. and Andy J. (Eleasha) Finneran of Winchester, Kan.,; a son in-law, Loren Pfannenstiel; three brothers, John Corriston, Joe Corriston and Mike Corriston; six sisters, Dorothy Coats, Debbie Roediger, Helen VanDruff, Rosey Garrett, Nadine Price and Geraldine Lafontaine; 21 grandkids, 24 great grandkids; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She worked as a Medication Aide at Golden Age Lodge “Medicalodge” and St. Johns Hospital. Mary also worked at Bells Laundry. She owned and operated John and Mary’s Bait Shop, Mary’s Daycare Center, Mary’s Adult Care Home and Legend of Country Music Bar and Grill.

Mary enjoyed dancing and visiting her vacation home on the Lake of the Ozarks where she had a pontoon boat. She loved getting visits from family and friends and especially seeing her grandkids and great grandkids. Mary and John traveled to South Padre Island, Texas, Mexico, Tennessee and many other places.

She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends. We would like to give a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice for all the comfort care and support they gave to Mary and her family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Thomas Schrader, O.Carm. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to AseraCare Hospice.
