Phyllis Green

Phyllis Kay Green, 64, of Basehor, Kan., passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 15, 1953, the daughter of William L. and Rosemary (Steward) Welsh in Kansas City, Kan.

Phyllis married Earnest “Ernie” Green II on Sept. 3, 1971. He survives of the home. She is also survived by three daughters, Angela “Angie” M. (Marc) McCarty, Amy S. (Ryan) McCarty, both of Basehor and Julie A. (Mike) Hawkins of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; Camyrn McCarty, Bryce McCarty, Nash McCarty, Audrey McCarty, Drew Hawkins, and Mallory Hawkins; her mother, Rosemary Welsh, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Charlotte Alderson; a brother, David (Unsuk) Welsh both of Basehor; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Larry Welsh.

Phyllis had worked for over 24 years as a teacher at the Chris Tots Montessori School in Shawnee and the Tots n Tales Montessori School in Kansas City, Kan. and was known as the “potty training guru of Wyandotte County”. She loved her Jayhawks and she was a very artistic woman who loved to draw. She was a sweet, tender soul that brought joy to all she encountered. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed holding onto the back of Ernie as they cruised on their Harley!

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, followed by a service at 11 a.m., both at the Sunset Hills Christian Church, 6347 Leavenworth Rd., Kansas City, KS. There will be a lunch after the service in the reception hall where the friends and family can share their memories of Phyllis. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials to the Chris Tots Montessori School in care of the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home (4701 10th Ave Leavenworth, KS 66048 913-351-0200).
