Leo “Lee” Edward Hattok

Leo “Lee” Edward Hattok, 97, of Leavenworth, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at his home. He was born April 10, 1917, in Leavenworth, Kan., the son of Andrew and Mary (Piechowiak) Hattok.

He grew up on a small farm in Kickapoo where he lived until he was 95.

In July, 1939, Lee married Lillian Mae Becker. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1988. He was also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Theodor Hattok, John Hattok, Joseph Hattok, Frank Hattok and Andrew Hattok; and three sisters, Anna Oretel, Mary Latka and Aganes Hattok.

Lee is survived by two sons, Leo (Ann) Hattok of Basehor, Kan. and Francis (Sandy) Hattok of Leavenworth; three daughters, Donna Roig of San Jacinto, Calif., Maxine (Bob) Tucker of Leavenworth and Dorothy (Jack) Messer of Fort Scott, Kan.; a sister, Helen Chmidling; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren.

He worked in construction as a concrete finisher and he also farmed. Lee enjoyed the outdoors, farming, hunting, fishing and trapping.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Casimir Church with Rev. Phillip Winkelbauer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Casimir Church or a charity of your choice.
