Kathryn Eileen Haverkamp

Kathryn Eileen Haverkamp, 68, of Leavenworth, passed away, Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, after a long illness. She was born on Nov. 19, 1946, in Centralia, Kan., the daughter of Anthony H. and Clara B. (Karnowski) Brinker.

In 1967, Kathryn married Kenneth Haverkamp Sr. He survives at the home. She is also survived by a son, Kenneth Haverkamp Jr. of Leavenworth; a daughter, Christina Haverkamp of Olathe, Kan.; three grandchildren, Jackson, Kennedy and Reese; and a sister, Rosalee (Eldon) Stallbaumer of Seneca, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lucas Brinker; and a sister, Elaine Brinker.

Kathy worked for Sacs Inc. and Leavenworth National Bank. She spent most of her career employed with the Leavenworth Public Schools.

She enjoyed reading, spending time outside and fishing with her husband. She volunteered as a softball coach and a Girl Scout leader. Kathy was also a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was passionate and incredibly devoted to her family. Kathy loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.

Visitation beginning with the rosary will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, at Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. David McEvoy, O.Carm as celebrant. Following a church luncheon, Burial will take place at St. Bede’s Cemetery in Kelly, Kan. Memorials are suggested to Xavier Catholic Schools or American Cancer Society.
