Marie Hoffman

Marie Hoffman, 86, of Leavenworth, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House.

She was born July 10, 1925, in Potter, Kan., the twin daughter of Clinton and Agnes (Noll) Hoffman.

Marie was a graduate of Immaculata High School. She was employed for nearly 40 years with South Western Bell Telephone Company in Kansas City, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marie had many hobbies; painting, needle work, wood working, fishing, bowling, golf, playing the piano and was a long-time St. Joseph CYO coach. Marie was also an avid KU basketball fan. She was a devoted, selfless care giver for many people.

She is survived by her nieces, Patti Miller of San Diego, Calif., Janie Harris of Kansas City, Mo., Irene “Bootsie” Laboda of Sunrise Beach, Mo., Mary Lou Evans of Plano, Texas, Claudia Goldak and Helen Snow both of Overland Park, Kan. and Vickie Hill of Gladstone, Mo.,; a nephew, Larry Hoffman of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Marcedes Hoffman of Atchison, Kan.; her great nieces and nephews; her great-great, nieces and nephews; and her wonderful neighbors, Darwin and Margaret Vermulm and Dr. John and Gail Zillman.

Marie was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hoffman; two sisters, Marian Aaron and Irene Hoffman.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed a 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Joseph Church with Rev. David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church or Kansas City Hospice House.
