Mrs. Callie Howard

Mrs. Callie Howard, 81, of Leavenworth, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Cushing Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 20, 1929, in Hattiesburg, Miss., the daughter of Andrew and Neller (Stribling) Harrison. She attended school at the Earl Travillion Attendant Center in Hattiesburg. Callie was a member of Independent Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board of the church. She lived a Christian life.

Callie went home to join her family who preceded her in death, her parents; a son, Richard McLain; a sister, Jessie Lee Logan; and two brothers, Leon Harrison and A.D. Harrison.

She leaves behind a daughter, Louise Charlton and husband, Willie of Leavenworth; two sons, Mark Whitney of Dallas, Texas and Marvin Howard and wife, Ericka of Leavenworth; two granddaughters, Dee Anna Howard and Ariel Cheatham; five grandsons, Marvin Howard Jr., Kenyo McLain, Reginald McLain, Stephen Charlton and Robert Peoples; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She loved all of them and she will be missed. She will especially be missed by her children.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Independent Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
