David Lloyd Keithley

David Lloyd Keithley, 62, of Leavenworth, died, Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, following a hard fight with kidney cancer. He was born on June 1, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Harold and Betty (Tolle) Keithley.

David leaves behind his wife Debbi; his only son, Tony (Lora); three grandsons, Cole Burton, Tucker Keithley, and Lane Keithley; his mother, Betty Keithley; three brothers, Dwain (Joan), Steve (Lisa) and Rick (Angie); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Shorty” Keithley; his first wife, Linda Seber Keithley; a brother, Danny; and a sister, Nancy.

David was an avid bowler and proud to have shot a 299 game and 770 series while fighting cancer. He enjoyed Friday nights at Lakeside Speedway and any night at local school sporting events. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play. David and Debbi loved the movies and went every weekend they could.

He worked for Fairbanks Morse/Pentair for 42 years until his illness forced him to retire two years ago.

David’s gruff exterior hid a kind, big-hearted, loving man and he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Kidney Cancer Association or Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society.
