Roberta Kern

Roberta Robinson Kern, 80, of Leavenworth, passed away peacefully, in the morning hours of Dec. 22, 2017. She was born Oct. 26, 1937, to John and Nevelee (Fellows) Robinson, in Weston, Mo., she was the fifth of six children.

Roberta married Lawrence Edward “Bud” Kern on Nov. 8, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kickapoo, Leavenworth. They spent 59 years together on the family farm. She worked as a secretary in Kansas City and receptionist at Fort Leavenworth prior to becoming a full-time housewife and devoted mother to their four children. Roberta spent many hours watching games shows on TV and playing cards and board games with her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, J.T. Robinson and Jimmie Robinson.

erta is survived by her husband; two sons, Kevin (Lisa) Kern and Brian (Sandy) Kern; two daughters, Janice (Joey) Denney and Theresa Grenier, all of the Leavenworth area. She is also survived by three sisters, Marcella Cannon, Willanna Robinson, and Norma Britton; nine grandchildren, Chad Higgins, Kyle Higgins, Teri (Ishi) Dean, Sara Johansen, Adam (Michelle) Kern, David (Kim) Kern, Michael Denney, Michelle Denney, Robin (Andrew) Collie; and 10 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Natale, Kayla Higgins, Kaylee Higgins, Aaron Higgins, Dustin Higgins, Ishi Dean Jr., Alana Dean, Aiden Johansen, Emma Kern and David Kern Jr.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Immaculate Conception Church, with Rev. David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart of Kickapoo Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital of Galveston, St. Lukes Hospice or Sacred Heart Church of Kickapoo
