Lorraine Kurtz

Lorraine Helen Kurtz, 87, formerly of Leavenworth, died, Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at her home, in Phoenix, Ariz. She was born on March 8, 1926, in Leavenworth, Kan., the daughter of George H. and Helen G. (Titolski) Retter.

She attended St. Casimir school and has been a member of the parish and the Altar Society for many years. She co-owned Bill and Lorraine’s Tavern and managed the Shrine Cub in Leavenworth. Lorraine later moved to Arizona where she was a Real Estate agent and Restaurant and Retail manager. Lorraine belonged to the American Legion, VFW, Eagles and supported her church, family and friends in many ways.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Mary Suzzane Wells of Arizona, Toni Alford of Arizona, Joe Derezinski of Texas, Jolene Nichols of Arizona; grandchildren, Juliet Thompson, Ginger Hanson, Kris Alford, Kevin Alford, Peyton Kelly, Amy Jones, Ashley Hull, Jessica Johnson, Kasey Nichols and Cody Lucas; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, George Retter; four sisters, Mary Margaret Gabrish, Rita Martin, Helen Stark and Jeanette Allison; and many extended family and friends.

is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward Derezinski; and a brother, Zack Brogan.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at St. Casimir Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at the church with Rev. Phillip Winkelbauer as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Casimir Church.
