Robert "Bob" Lahiff

Robert “Bob” Lahiff, 73, of Lansing, died, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born Aug. 10, 1944, the son of John “Jack” and Peggy (Luther) Lahiff.

He attended Sacred Heart grade school before moving to Lincoln, Neb., where he attended St. Theresa and St. Pius X schools. He returned to Leavenworth in 1960 and attended Immaculata High School and Rockhurst College.

Bob loved sports. He was a member of the Imac 1962 Championship basketball team and was inducted into the Imac and Kansas Hall of Fame. He refereed high school basketball and high school and college football. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Dan’s Duffers until his health forced him to retire. As Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, he was chairman of the Hoop Shoot Contest for over 25 years. Bob was the owner-operator of Robinson Outdoor Advertising, a family business that he ran for over 30 years.

Bob enjoyed plays at the Heartland Theater and the Dinner Theater. He truly enjoyed playing cards with his poker buddies. He had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes. He always saw life from the glass half full perspective and was the sunshine in any room he entered.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Lahiff; and his daughter, Tracy Howard.

His is survived by his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Jackie (Scott) Mills; sister-in-law, Jacquie Lahiff; son-in-law, Bill Howard; three grandchildren, Ryan, Connor and Brett Mills; two step-grandchildren, Alison and Blake (Lesley) Howard; four step great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Francis de Sales Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to L.A.W.S. or St. Francis de Sales Building Fund.
