Stephan Lively

Stephan Harley Lively, 71, of Leavenworth, died, Monday, May 25, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospice House. He was born on Sept. 3, 1943, in Lynch, Ky., the son of John and Ethel (Mays) Lively.

He graduated from Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Ohio in 1962. Stephan was a mechanical engineer in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. In 1973 he went to work for Great Western Manufacturing where he retired after 35 years.

On Feb. 17, 1982, Stephan married Barbara Fowler at the Little Church of the West, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives at the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Stephanie (Ken) Britt and Staci Jane Lively both of Lugoff, S.C.; a granddaughter that he was exceptionally proud of, Sydney Jane Lively; a sister, Donna (Leo) Fuchs; two dogs, Quigley and Caesar; 17 nieces and nephews; and very good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

He was proud of his award winning 1947 Mercury Convertible that he restored himself. He was an avid reader. Stephan also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and music.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Forty and Eight club.

Stephan had a great sense of humor and a love for animals. He loved his family more than anything.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Pulmonary Fibrosis Research or Leavenworth County Humane Society.
