David E. Mark

David E. Mark, 66, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born Aug. 11, 1946, in Leavenworth, the son of Marion and Lura E. (Taylor) Mark.

David resided in Shawnee, Kan. with his wife, Barbara A. (Seitz) Mark, she survives. Other survivors include his first wife, Emily (Robbins) Mark of Manhattan, Kan.; their daughter, Sarah (David) Parker of Galesburg, Ill.; three grandchildren, William, Anna and Alexander Parker; two sisters, Gayle (Mike) Haddock of Leavenworth, Brenda (Ed) Pierce of Sunset Beach, Mo. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois A. Jenkins.

David was a graduate of Leavenworth High School in 1964, served in the United States Army and Air Force as a communication center specialist from 1964-72 and then received his B.S. in Education from the University of Kansas in 1977. He was employed for 31 years in marketing and as a rate analyst with Kansas Gas Service. David was an avid reader, loved history and a faithful Kansas Jayhawks fan.

The family will receive friends at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by graveside service and military honors at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the School of Education at KU or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
