Tanner McCombs

Tanner Matthew McCombs, was born May 15, 1998, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Tony McCombs of Jefferson City, Mo and Joyce Darnell Holden of Lansing, Kan. Tanner walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 11, 2015, at the age of 17.

Tanner was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents; Muril and Laura Osborn of Garnett, Kan., OB Darnell of Leavenworth, Kan. and Margie Herrera of Fruita, Colo.

Tanner is survived by his parents; Tony McCombs and Joyce Darnell Holden; his siblings, Laura Darnell of Nashville, Tenn., Brandon Darnell of Colby, Kan., Cameron McCombs of Lansing, Spec. 4, Dustin McCombs of El Paso, Texas and Joel McCombs of Lansing; his maternal grandparents, Tom and Linda Darnell of Leavenworth; a paternal grandmother, Donna Fletcher-Garrett of Lansing; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

While living in Lansing, Tanner attended Lansing High School and was an avid lover of sports during his young life. He exceled at football, baseball and wrestling, he also enjoyed music and was a skilled drummer and guitarist. Tanner an avid KU fan and swore he was destined to go to KU after graduation in 2016, since he was born at KU Medical Center.

Tanner accepted the Lord into his heart at the tender age of eight and the family is blessed to know as we mourn his loss, he is running free in heaven. Tanner will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was the kind of young man that anyone would be proud to call son, grandson, and friend.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m. Thursday, Dec.17, 2015, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The celebration of his life will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at the funeral home, with Pastor Brad Mann, of Westside Family Church will be officiating the services. Family is requesting everyone wear KU or Lansing High School apparel to the celebration of Tanner’s life.
