Michelle Medley

Michelle Medley 34, of Easton , Kan., passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Cushing Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 23, 1977, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Todd Marshall and Carlene (Barksdale) Watkins.

A loving wife, a caring mother, a beautiful daughter, a big sister, a precious granddaughter, an awesome niece, the bestest aunt and a wonderful friend.

She followed her beloved son, Isaiah, in death.

She leaves behind her husband, John Medley, Jr.; their three sons, Christian Lanter, David Medley and Caleb Medley; parents, Todd Marshall and Carlene Watkins; grandparents, Carl and Gerrie Barksdale, and Kurt and Lori Marshall; brothers, Danial Marshall, and Sean Marshall; uncle, Grady Barksdale; aunts, Anita Duke and Leigh Reeve; her loving cousins, Dustin Thomas, Crystal Reisig, Katherine Barksdale, Shaun Barksdale, Nicholas Loreti, Natalie Loreti, Shannan Reeve and Charles Reeve; all extended cousins; nieces, Elijah and Kendall Marshall and Desirae and Kyla Shackleford; father and mother-in-law, J.D. Medley, Sr., and Nancita Medley; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Michelle Shackleford; sister by heart, Samatha Kennett; stepmother, Mary Defrees; stepbrothers, Michael Sprinkle, James Marshall, Christopher Marshall and Stephen Marshall; and all her loving friends.

She loved working with the children at Leavenworth Guidance Center and Leavenworth County Co-op. Her heart’s passion was bound to the children at New Beginnings. Michelle's tough-love approach to life helped anyone she came into contact with. Michelle’s special gift of working with children will be remembered in all those children she touched.. She was a loving mother tigeress to all children in her life.

Michelle was an amazing woman, who didn’t know a stranger. She could and has touch the lives of so many people and will continue to do so even in her passing. Her strong personality was her greatest strength. The world has lost a wonderful gift, she gave to life. She will be missed by all that have known and loved her.

There will be an open viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral. All family, friends and associates are welcome. A Celebration Of Life will be at their home Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, from 10am to 4pm. More information will be available at the viewing. Donations for a Memorial Bench can be sent to their home or memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
