Jacqueline "Jackie" Mikesich

Jacqueline "Jackie" Mikesich, 80, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home. She was born on January 22, 1936 in Lebanon, Ore., the daughter of John and Ethel (Workman) Langley.

Jackie graduated from Leavenworth High School. She was employed at Hallmark, the Veterans Administration Medical Center and then went on to become a Home Health Caregiver for many years. She retired at the age of 70.

She was a former member of the Eagles Fraternity and enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and visiting with her grandchildren. She was a sweetheart to many and will be deeply missed.

Jackie is survived by four children, Debbie (Gabrick) and husband Earl Varner of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Steven Gabrick of Leavenworth, John Pogue and partner John Jons Jr. of Kansas City, Kan. and Denise Brooks of Leavenworth; a sister, Wilma "Billie" Oertel and Fritz Walkenbach of Leavenworth; a niece, Kathy (Oertel) and husband Larry Wolter of Leavenworth; a nephew, Robert "Bob" and wife Kristen Oertel of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; six great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. There will be no funeral to follow as Jackie's wishes were to be cremated. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jackie's life. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to Alliance Against Family Violence in Jackie's name. The family would like to thank the staff at Twin Oaks for their care and dedication.
