Christina Elizabeth Naething

Christina Elizabeth Naething, 56, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at her home on Fort Leavenworth, Kan., following her 18-month battle with brain cancer.

Chris was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Coshocton, Ohio, the daughter of Leo and Hedy (Loos) Ormesher. She was a 1974 honor graduate of Madison High School in Mansfield, Ohio. She married Robert R. Naething of Mansfield on March 21, 1976, in Sentinel, Okla. Chris was a homemaker and enjoyed running, yoga, cooking, and spending time with her family. Married to a career Army officer, she was very active in numerous Army spouses clubs and support organizations. These included various International Clubs as both a club officer and as a sponsor of visiting foreign officer families, Family Readiness Groups working with families of deployed soldiers and officer wives clubs assisting new spouses with the unique demands of Army life. Chris homeschooled her children for fourteen years and assisted homeschooling organizations at each post they lived during that period. She also was a Post Chapel Youth Group sponsor and leader at various posts. A woman of great faith and kind heart, she was well known throughout the Army community for her work ministering to those in need.

She is survived by her husband Robert Naething; her son, Richard M. Naething and his wife Windsor of Albuquerque, N.M.; her daughter, MacKenzie L. Limesand and her husband Craig of Barnhart, Mo.; her youngest son, Benjamin W. Naething, a student at Texas A&M; one granddaughter, Lucy E. Limesand; her parents, Leo and Hedwig Ormesher of Mansfield, Ohio; three sisters, Margrit Bautz of Mansfield, Ohio, Edna Steinhour of Mansfield, Ohio and Patricia Merrill and her husband Richard of Katy, Texas; two brothers, Leo Ormesher of Columbus, Ohio and Richard Ormesher and his wife Lori Parrott of Albuquerque, N.M.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday Dec. 1, 2011, at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home at 4701 10th Ave., Leavenworth, KS. Funeral services will be begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at the Frontier Chapel on Fort Leavenworth. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Luke’s Hospice of Leavenworth or your favorite charity in Chris’ name.
