Norma Jean Noel

Norma Jean Noel, age 72, died after a long illness on Nov. 18, 2018, with her family surrounding her bedside. Norma was born March 4, 1946, the daughter of Lee and Betty Lane. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Lane and Lee Lane Jr., a sister, Deloris Thomas; and a grandson, Robert Lon Rush.

In 1961, at the age of 15, Norma married James Noel and they remained married for 56 years. James passed away in 2017. James and Norma had five children; Julie Noel, Jamie Saldivar (Terry), Janice Van Parys (David), James Noel and Geneva Rush (Robert). She and James had 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. Additional survivors include; two brothers, Martin Lane (Marianne) and Sam Lane; two sisters, Betty Wise (Larry) and Vickie Sanders (Keith).

Norma worked for Leavenworth County for approximately 30 years during her lifetime; the County Infirmary; the Noxious Weed Department; and Buildings and Grounds. She loved garage sales, cooking, spending time with her family, and gospel music. Norma was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Norma rededicated her life to Jesus in 2017, when she became a member of First Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at First Baptist Church at 13th and Osage. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. A celebration of life dinner will follow at the church.
