Mark Duane Ramsden

Mark D. Ramsden, 52, of Leavenworth, died unexpectedly, Saturday, March 30, 2019, at his home. He was born Sept. 12, 1966, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Howard Ramsden and Vicky (Tripp) Ramsden.

Mark Ramsden

He graduated from Desoto High School in 1985 and attended Johnson County Community College. Mark served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a signal soldier in Korea and at Ft. Hood, Texas, before settling in Leavenworth. He worked at AT&T for over 23 years.

On March 3, 2003, Mark married Janet Wilsbacher. She survives at the home. He is also survived by his parents; two brothers, Marty (Kym) of Basehor, Kan., and Morgan of Golden, Colo.; his mother-in-law, Mildred Albert; three brothers-in-law, John (Shawna), Mark and Richard (Sandy) Wilsbacher; two sisters-in-law, Alice (John) Price and Joan (Don) Edelman; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was an avid cyclist and a frequent ride designer and leader for the Santa Fe Trails Bicycle Racing Team. He was known as a strong rider, but more – a great rider – who would often ride with others to motivate and encourage. He became an advocate of gravel riding – getting out into the counties around Leavenworth and taking in the scenery from the seat of his bike. He was also a bike commuter; braving even the worst weather going back and forth to work.

He was also a big NASCAR fan. He was especially a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. Mark spent many weekends at the track and in the infield camping with his family and enjoying the races. Mark also enjoyed Chiefs games with friends and family.
