Anthony Patrick Reineke

Anthony Patrick Reineke, 14, of Lansing, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at home in the arms of his parents after a long battle with illness. He was born May 29, 2001, in Fort Hood, Texas, the son of Myron John and Laurie Diane (Whitaker) Reineke.

Anthony completed the 8th grade at Patton Junior High School, where he was a straight A student. His favorite classes were math and model design.

He enjoyed playing video games, catch, listening to 80's music and playing tricks on his loved ones. He loved baseball and his favorite team was the Texas Rangers. Anthony was quiet, sincere, brave, intelligent, witty and a prankster.

Anthony was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Jean and Warren Yackle and an uncle, James Whitaker.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Andrew Reineke; a sister, Sarah Reineke; his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Cathy Whitaker, of Osawatomie, Kan.; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Jane Reineke of Spring Valley, Minn.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins that loved him immensely.

Visitation beginning with praying the Rosary will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at St. Francis de Sales Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, with Rev. William McEvoy as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Children's Mercy Hospital Cancer Center in Kansas City, Mo. Arrangements in care of R.L. Leintz Funeral Home.
