Norma Wallace

Norma Darlene Wallace, 81, of Leavenworth, died, Friday, Sept. 20, 2013. She was born June 18, 1932, in Rulo, Neb., the daughter of Beulah and Otha (Davis) Pittman.

She spent most of the first half of her life in the area of Hiawatha, Kan. She married Arland (Bud) Corbet and they had one son Bill (Ruby) Corbet and two grandsons, Bill Jr. (Amanda) Corbet and Mike (Kari) Corbet all of Leavenworth. She also had one granddaughter Crystal (Jerry) Tucker and a great-granddaughter Kaitlynn of Chesapeake, Va. She then married William (Bill) Wallace and he had five children which made them a family of six children. William III (Bill) of Evansville, Ind., Rachael (Gene) Gormley of Horton, Kan., Jennifer (Barry) Russell of Platte City, Mo., Debra Dunagan of Cowetta, Okla., Elma (Daryl) Ball of Ozawkie, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild and one great grandchild.

For many years while living in the Hiawatha area, Norma operated a rural Kansas City Star paper route. Upon moving to Leavenworth she worked in the medical records department at St John Hospital until retirement.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hiawatha, later a member in Leavenworth. A member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and a member of the Leavenworth Veterans Day Parade Committee where she volunteered for many years.

She will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home 4701 10th Ave in Leavenworth. A memorial dinner to follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 300 South 20th St. in Leavenworth.
