Jo Ann Williams

Jo Ann Williams, 78, of Leavenworth, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Country Care of Easton.

She was born Josephine A. Simms on Sept. 21, 1932, in Leavenworth, the daughter of James J. and Margaret (Ward) Simms.

Jo Ann graduated as a registered nurse from Providence Hospital in 1953. She worked as a nurse at the V.A. Hospital from 1954 to 1965.

On Feb. 5, 1955, she married John T. Williams at the Old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1999.

Jo Ann is survived by her three children, John M. Williams of Leavenworth, Timothy J. and wife Lisa Williams of Leavenworth and Tracy and husband Dave Wagner of Easton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jean Simms; and two siblings, Dee Scanlon and Pete Zink.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah E. Simms; and a brother, James J. Simms.

She and John owned and operated J.T. Williams Liquor Store in downtown Leavenworth for 33 years. She was a life time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church.
