Raymond Williams Jr.

Raymond Williams Jr. 89, of Lansing, Kan., passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017. Raymond was born in Leavenworth, Kan., on Jan. 19, 1928, to Raymond V. Williams & Cecil (Cunning) Williams.

Raymond married Virginia Sacks in Leavenworth, on March 2, 1954. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2015. Raymond was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Darlene (Woody) Peters and two brothers, Robert Williams and Norman Williams.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Williams of Kansas City; brother-in-law, Robert Sacks (Vivian) of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and four children, Lisa Riedinger of Kennewick, Wash., Cindy Jackson (Richard) of Lansing, Kan.; Todd Williams (Melinda) of Basehor, Kan. and Kim Buchanan (Mark) of Mc Louth, Kan.; 10 Grandchildren, Rebecca, Scott, Brandie, Lindsay, Ashley, Eric, Kyle, Melanie, Mallory and Russell; nine great-grandchildren, Isabella, Temperance, Christopher, Kaylee, Hank, Jesse, John, Olivia and Trevor.

Raymond graduated from Leavenworth High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent 25 years of service working for the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan. After his retirement in 1981, he served as City Clerk of Easton, Kan., for a number of years. Raymond was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church, a Lifetime member of the Easton Masonic Lodge, the Byington Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Abdallah Shrine Temple, and the Scottish Rite. He also served as Past Commander of the Leavenworth American Legion.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 12, 2017, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at the Easton United Methodist Church in Easton, Kan. Burial to follow at the Easton Methodist Cemetery. The family would like to express our appreciation for the dignity, love and care provided to our father by Twin Oaks Independent Living, Saint Luke’s-Cushing Hospital and K.U. Medical Center. Memorials may be given to the Easton United Methodist Church.
